And all these minute-looking things get worse over time, this is exactly what this Malayalam film brings up. A Jeo Baby directorial venture brings the story of a newlywed portrayed by Nimisha Sajayan and Suraj Venjaramoodu.
An ambitious woman gets married to a teacher who belongs to a patriarchal family. She gets subjected to domestic slavery which is common in some families.
We see for almost half an hour the same processes of making food following the traditional practices and picking up plates from the dining table goes on. Not only these household chores but the wicked habits of the males of the family are awful.
They keep the food waste on the table itself and not even can get up just to bring water for themselves. Not only this but the people of the family feel women on periods are impure and they should be held away in those days.
However, the plot also has some tint is of Sabrimala case. In the film, some outraged male burns the scooty of a journalist because she stood against the invalid liturgies.
Similarly, the wife suffers a lot in the family. And one day she resists herself and gets out of the house after throwing dirty water on the faces of her husband and father in law.
This brings a change in her life and the end, she is seen as an independent and self-made woman who teaches dance. Well, the movie is trending now and has opened ways for more Malayalam movies turning remakes.
