Rowan Atkinson aka Mr. Bean speaks of ‘cancel culture’

Our favorite Rowan Atkinson aka Mr. Bean celebrated his 66th birthday yesterday. Besides, he has something serious to say about.

Rowan Atkinson known for playing the epic mute character Mr. Bean has grabbed the headlines for a reason on his born day. He articulated his perspectives over shrinking freedom of speech and grieved the type of ostracization that ‘cancel culture’ pledges.

The actor has compared that to a “medieval mob roaming the streets looking for someone to burn” reported some of the prominent news portals.

Atkinson asserted that in today’s digital world an algorithm decides what we want to watch and that leads to the creation of a simplistic, binary view of a society.

Further adding the explained, that the above situation becomes an issue of either you’re with us or against us. And if one is against them, one deserves to be ‘canceled’.

Mr. Bean stated talking to Radio Times, “We must be exposed to a wide spectrum of opinion, but what we have now is the digital equivalent of the medieval mob roaming the streets looking for someone to burn. So it is scary for anyone who’s a victim of that mob and it fills me with fear about the future.”

Meanwhile, an illustration of his roller-coaster journey of screens is still an inspiration for billions of his fans worldwide.

Turning on his profession with ‘Not the Nine ‘o clock news’ in 1979, he went on to become one of the 50 funniest actors in British comedy by The Observer in 2007.

This brilliant comic individual starred in sitcoms like the all-time loved Blackadder and Mr. Bean which is still the kid’s hero. Besides, he performed extremely delusional in the James Bond sequel Never Say Never Again, The Lion King and The Thin Blue Line.

Apart from this, we wish our humorous king the happiest belated birthday.
