Engineering is the most impressive education field. Besides, we non-engineers feel those who get to IIT’s live secure and extraordinary life. But this Netflix documentary Alma Matters- Inside the IIT Dream reveals some diverse countenances.
The students having a science academic background try their best to clear the JEE mains and advance. They dwell in a mirage that shows them a ‘super perfect life’ in the Indian Institutes of Technology.
Nobody, who guided them ever brief about the adverse aspects of the IIT’s. What they have to actually go through to win the race of grades. The life there is much altered from what the pupil thinks it is.
So, to bring all these so-called idealistic facets in notice Netflix has unmasked the trailer of an upcoming documentary. It has been titled, Alma Matters- Inside the IIT Dream.
And who has joined as the main alumnus is none other than our favorite comedian Biswa Kalyan Rath? So, together with all the intriguing subjects let’s explore what the doc will fetch to the audience.
Well, here we are not focusing on any fight. But as the initial scene depicts, a student is asking the jury that their parents have taken good care of them for twenty years. They think we will be back home earning good degrees.
He exemplifies that they were able to keep their children alive for twenty years but the faculties (probably) can not for five years only. So, here you can see the huge disparity. Because it is nothing but the systems failure.
The students inside the institute are seen participating in sports and activities. Some are pledging to be the secretary, some are defining their struggles as a girl there and some are reflecting upon the rush in schedules.
No doubt, the learners there, rush to achieve grades and do assignments. Study nights and nights to make their dream come true. The competition to get placed and losing the passion for engineering is being demonstrated.
We can infer this from the words of an alumnus. Who says, these numbers are the root cause of problems.
The factors sometimes influence us to opt for those streams that are not made for us. An alumnus there confesses that after few semesters he realized that respective department is not at all for him.
Life is not going according to the expectations. This leads to frustration and anger over ourselves. This is what another student claims.
Though no matter, how fascinating the elements there look. But they have hidden a harsh reality inside themselves. The youth gets under pressure and quits everything. And can you understand now how it would feel for others of the same age.
Pratik Patra and Prashant have directed it and Dopamine Media and Entertainment Pvt. Ltd are producing it.
Well, if you want to know more go and watch the trailer now. But for the full documentary, you have to wait until 14th May.
Have a nice day.
